THE ROLE

A great opportunity for a CIVIL ENGINEER with at least five years’ or more experience post graduation to join a top firm of consulting engineers in EDINBURGH.

You will need to have experience of design development of Trunk Road projects.

You will do design calculations, drawings, specifications and reports plus review designs and drawings for compliance with design standards and best practice guidance.

You will ensure that work is fully compliant with Health and Safety legislation such as CDM Regulations and other applicable codes.

You will do preparation of geodetic and geological investigation contract documents.

Procurement of surveys and provide support to other colleagues.

You will mentor and guide graduates etc.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a successful firm of consulting engineers workng on civl, structural, geotechnial, traffic & transportation and related services.

They have offices across the UK and are working with a good range of clients in the public and private sectors.

They offer excellent ongoing training and CPD and good training towards becoming chartered.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have a Degree in Civil Engineering with at least five years’ experience in Trunk Road scheme design development.

You will be either progressing towards Chartered or Incorporated status or you may be recently chartered or incorporated as a Civil Engineer.

Further support towards becoming chartered will be given.

You should have experience of the application of DMRB requirements.

Good communication skills are essential to be able to deal with clients and the professional team. Also experience of liaising with the client, road authorities and the public in technical forums and at public exhibitions is preferred.

Some experience of using computer based design packages such as MX would be useful or similar.

Salary in the range of £28000 to £35000 per annum plus pension and professional fees.
