This is an excellent opportunity for a PROJECT MANAGER who is keen to join a large firm of construction consultants based in BRISTOL with visits to site, client, consultants offices as required in Bristol and the surrounding areas.
Your background should be in construction consultants with initial training in quantity surveying, building surveying or construction project management or similar built environment background etc. and you will have at least three years or more project management experience.
This is a large long established firm of construction consultants who have a broad base of clients in the private and public sectors with offices across the U.K. and abroad.
They are working on a good range of projects in the private and public sectors which includes construction projects for universities, large residential, large industrial and possibly some projects on highways.
THE CANDIDATE / DUTIES
My client is now seeking a Project Manager who can project manage the whole construction process from defining the sope of the project right through to project delivery on site.
You will need to have a Degree or Diploma in a Built Environment subject and will be either MRICS / MAPM qualified or have gained good experience and be Degree qualified but not necessarily chartered and support will be given if required to become RICS / APM qualified.
Ideally you will be working for another firm of consultants and will have front end project management experience.
You will need to have excellent organisation and client facing skills along with being highly computer literate.
You should be able to work on your own or as part of a team.
You must be able to run your own projects, representing the client, offering advice to project manage the design and construction teams from initial concept through to final handover.
Duties will include defining the scope of the projects in collaboration with the client and confirming the design brief. Creating a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities and gateways needed to successfully complete the project.
You will determine the resources in terms of time, money, equipment etc. that is required and you will develop a schedule for project completion that allocates resources to the activities and you will ensure that a cost plan is prepared.
You will coordinate the tendering process from PQQ to contract award and execute the project according to the project plan. You will develop forms and records to document project activities.
You will chair and administer project team meetings and coordinate the work of the client and consultants including the designers and cost managers.
You will monitor the progress of the project and manage a robust change control process.
You will undertake value management exercises in collaboration with the client team and the contractor.
You will review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis.
You will monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures and monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance.
You will administer the contract.
You will validate payments and issue interim certificates throughout the construction process.
You will manage and advise on testing and commissioning, defects and any extension of time claims.
You will oversee the practical completion and handover at the end of the project and evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase.
You will need to have experience of project management using JCT and NEC3 forms of contract and have a sound understanding of higher education, residential and ideally some infrastructure projects.
Salary for this role is in the region of £40000 to around £55000 negotiable per annum plus car allowance, pension, health insurance and other benefits.
