I am now seeking an ASSISTANT DEVELOPMENT CONTROL ENGINEER (Highways) to join a firm of consultants in Barnet, North London.

You will deal with processing of highway applications and associated legal agreements i.e. S38, S278 etc.


My client is a large multi discipline firm of consulting engineers working on projects for public and private sector clients.


I am seeking an Assistant Development Control Engineer to join the highways team to be responsible for assisting the Traffic and Development Manager in ensuring the deilvery of highways infrastructure projects and associated highway legal agreements i.e. S184, S38 & S278 etc.

You will deal with processing of highway applications, identify, negotiate and secure by legal agreement transport and / or highway improvements and assessment of commted sums for the adoption of new infrastructure assets adopted by the authority.

You will keep detailed records of all schemes.

You will monitor Highway Legal agreements.

You will liase with internal and external partners.

You must have some suitable experience in traffic / highway engineering / transport and development planning.

You will need to have experience of highways development management and / or related highways discipline.

You should have some experience of highways design, construction and drainage techniques.

You should also have general knowledge of planning, development and transport policies and associated legislation.

You will need to have an ONC / HNC or BSc in Civil Engineering or Transportation. You may also be a Graduate / Incorporated Member of an appropriate highway institution e.g. IHT, IHIE, ICE etc.

Salary is in the range of £25000 to £26000 plus good pension and many other benefits.
