THE ROLE
I am seeking a Senior Project Manager or Development Manager in the Building Construction industry who has fluent German and good English to join an end-user client in Germany.
You could be based in Kaarst or Berlin and you will need to travel across Germany to site as required by the projects.
You will work on a range of light industrial storage buildings from new build to extensions and fit-out and re-purposing of old buildings.
You will work on projects from planning stage through to project delivery and you will deal the consultants, the client and contractors plus local authority planning departments.
It is essential that you are used to dealing with local authorities for planning and for building permits.
Experience in the use of the VOB and HOAI is required and ideally at least five years or more experience of working in the German construction industry either in Architecture or Project Management or Development Management is essential.
You should also have a good commercial understanding of budgets, cash flows etc.
This role will be undertaken on a fixed term contract basis for around 12 – 18 months.
THE COMPANY
My client is an end user company who are building and operating in industrial storage facilities.
THE CANDIDATE
You will be Degree or MSc qualified in a construction related subject e.g. Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Project Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Civil Engineering or other Building Construction subject.
You may be chartered i.e. MRICS, MAPM or similarly qualified.
You will need to have gained five years experience or more in a building construction related role i.e. Architect, Project Manager, Development Manager.
You will ideally have been working for a firm of building construction consultants or worked client-side.
You must have an understanding of all commercial and economic aspects of construction projects of high value including budgets, cash flows.
You will need experience of construction projects in Germany with a good understanding of the VOB and all stages of the HOAI.
You will need fluent German and good English. Previous experience of working in the German construction industry is required.
Good communication skills are essential and to have the ability to deal with people at all levels.
Day rate is negotiable according to experience but in the region of Euro 500 to 750 per day plus expenses.
