THE ROLE

My client, a small dynamic firm of construction consultants seeks an ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR to join them in either BIRMINGHAM or DERBY to work on a range of high value building projects from inception to completion.

Projects include new build residential, commercial offices, care homes, warehousing, retirement villages and more.

You will carry out the full range of cost management duties throughout all stages of the projects from feasibility, acquisition, design, construction, handover etc.

You will work with a Senior or Associate QS who will also encourage you to work towards becoming chartered with the RICS.

THE CLIENT

My client is a dynamic firm of construction cost management and project management consultants mainly working on private sector projects with three UK offices.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have a BSc or BSc Hons or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar subject, ideally with an RICS accredited degree.

You may have started working towards becoming RICS qualified or be keen to work towards becoming chartered as a Quantity Surveyor.

You will need to have a minimum of one year or more post graduation relevant cost management experience within the construction industry having worked for another firm of construction consultants or worked client-side. This could have been gained during your degree as a year out or doing your degree on day release or post graduation.

You will becoming involved in all aspects of construction projects representing the client from feasibility, through acquisition, design, construction and handover and deal with all pre and post contract QS duties.

You will be keen to carve out a career with a growing firm of construction consultants.

You will need to have a stable work record along with excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

You should have your own transport to enable you to travel to meetings and to site when required.

Salary will be in the region of £26000 to £35000 depending on your experience and there are a number of benefits including pension contribution, bonus etc.
