THE ROLE

My client, a go-ahead dynamic firm of construction consultants seeks an ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR to join them in Tyne & Wear to work on a range of high value building projects from inception to completion.

Projects include new build, extension and fit out for industrial logistics buildings, residential and commercial offices.

You will carry out the full range of cost management duties throughout all stages of the projects from feasibility, acquisition, design, construction, handover etc.

You will work with a Senior or Associate QS who will also encourage you to work towards becoming chartered with the RICS.

This firm offers great prospects for future promotion.

THE CLIENT

My client is a dynamic firm of construction cost management and project management consultants mainly working on private sector projects with several UK offices plus a number of offices across mainland Europe.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have a BSc or BSc Hons or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar subject, ideally with an RICS accredited degree.

You may have started working towards becoming RICS qualified or be keen to work towards becoming chartered as a Quantity Surveyor.

Ideally you may have one year or more post graduation relevant cost management experience gained either post graduation or by doing a year out. My client will also consider a recent graduate with a QS degree or MSc without previous experience.

Ideally your experience will have been with a firm of private practice quantity surveyors or multi disciplinary consultants.

You will becoming involved in all aspects of construction projects representing the client from feasibility, through acquisition, design, construction and handover and deal with all pre and post contract QS duties.

You will be keen to carve out a career with a growing and ambitious firm of construction consultants.

You must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

You should have your own transport to enable you to travel to meetings and to site when required.

Salary will be in the region of £24000 to £30000 depending on your experience and there are a number of benefits including pension contribution, bonus, RICS support etc.
