THE ROLE
I am seeking an Associate Director Quantity Surveyor / PQS in the Building Construction industry with fluent English (German not essential) to join an international firm of construction consultants in Berlin.
You will work on construction projects from feasibility through project delivery dealing with pre and post contract work including feasibility, cost estimates, cost planning, tender documentation, contract administration, cost reporting, valuations, variations etc.
My client is working on a range of projects including office buildings (new build and fit out), warehouses, pharmaceutical, data centre and other projects.
You should be able to run your own projects and lead a cost management team.
THE COMPANY
My client is a successful large firm of construction consultants providing clients with Project Management and Quantity Surveying services.
They have several offices across Germany plus offices elsewhere in Europe, the UK and further afield.
THE CANDIDATE
You will be Degree qualified in a construction related subject e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar building construction subject.
You will ideally be chartered with the RICS or similar organisation or be keen to take up RICS membership.
You will need to have gained around ten years or more post graduate experience in quantity surveying doing the full range of cost management duties including both pre contract and post contract work.
You will need to have been working for a firm of building construction consultants or multi disciplinary consultants.
You must have an understanding of commercial and economic aspects of construction projects.
English (written and spoken) is essential, German would be useful, however my client will pay for a German course if you do not speak the language as yet.
Good communication skills are essential and to have the ability to deal with people at all levels.
You should be able to lead a team of quantity surveyors and be able to mentor graduates.
Salary is negotiable according to experience but in the region of Euro 80000 to 90000 per annum depending on your experience plus pension contribution of 3.5%, German course, relocation expenses.
